26.06.2018

Bucket List

It happened in January 2018. I watched the movie Bucket list and Jack Nicholson encouraged that  instead of others' lists, I must make my own.

Below is the list.  I was never passionate about anything except love and only love, a romantic love.  My bucket list reflects that.  It's funny but OK!

My bucket list: (ইহা ধ্রুবক নহে!)

1. Camping in Valley of flowers
2. go to a long solo trip in a trek
3. ride a hot air balloon
4. Wildlife  safari  in Africa
5. Hug and love the loved ones before I die
6. Say something utterly romantic in an utterly romantic environment under starry sky
7. bathe in the moonlight in a super full moon  in a lake in a boat
8. Snorkel in the coral reef in a bright sunny day
9. spend a month in a row traveling in the wild
10. write a novel based on my life : not an autobiography, I'll write the destiny I wanted
11. do nothing for a week in a row except bathing, sleeping and eating
12. do something completely unpredictable to my nature in a completely strange situation
13. go on a bike trip in ladakh/ Himalayas  region or in a similar landscape
14. visit Africa
15. "Let me die in yours arms": a  "notebook " death

Dhamrai Day Trip: ended in a grand lunch at Bottola, Jahangir Nagar University

We started our journey on one fine morning at 10 am from Gabtoli Bus Terminal. Initially our trip was a joint one with a group of enthusiast travellers heavily equipped with most-modern DSLRs and most importantly a fresh mind to be able to enjoy anything that comes. However, although we caught some beautiful moments at a Jewellery makers' village in Bhakurta, Savar near Dhaka and spent quite a happy moments with them, we decided to split up and take our own destination to the potters' village (Pal Para - Pal means potters, Para- village). (that story would come in a separate post). This village is located on the banks of Dhaleswari river just before it joins Bongshi. I always had a fascination on the river Bongshi. The first time I heard its name, I fell in love with it. So, anyways, my phone (my very own DSLR!) again captured following beautiful moments for me. I am sorry I don't know how to reverse order the photos in blogger in a single click. It just uploaded photos reveres chronologically. So, you might like it better to browse the photos from down to upwards.
"Food, glorious food"!!! at Jahangir Nagar University. The place is called Bot Tola near some student halls and the place has tens of food stalls made of tins, bamboos and wooden benches and tables. They cater for all varieties of foods. This is one of my most fav food spot. How many dishes can you recognise from the photos above and below?

How much does it cost to feast here? Well, for Duck meat cooked with diced potatoes in a yummy spicy sauce with refills, 3 beef cakes, dried fish pastes, smashed brinjals, tengra-fish cooked with green chilies and beans, fried cabbages, pasted nuts, we ate all these with rice and lentils until we reached the point of exploding, for 4 of us it costed only 400 tk!!!! (7$)

One of my favourite sculture: The "Amar Ekushey" want to see more Sculptures of JU

R with his Iphone satisfying his Selfie Thirst :P Taken while riding on a cycle van. I am peeping from behind! These cycle vans are kind of new here. one can take 4, a modified version of rickshaws. You might have seen photos in my earlier post

Clay pots ready to be transported to the whole-sellers at streets in Palpara

A hard working potter bringing pots from their stores. Its inside a home of a potter house. They have made wall decorations as well. Notice the hanging items at the entrance.

A wall somewhere would be decorated by these

Artwork by the potters. Wall of a place that is often used for Hindu worships and sacrifices

The place of worship. Noticed Shiva & Parvati on the wall? On the stage I guess it's Lakshmi
Tiles bridging blocks

Granny making clay pots. Watch videos of the granny &  grandson making the pots by hand and using a tool. It's a very hard work....it is. They asked whether we were from the nearby Janhangir Nagar university. When I shoed granny her photos and videos, she smiled so nicely!

Pots just made and waiting to be sun-dried

He is making the clay sheet that will make the walls of the cone shaped pots you've seen in the earlier photo.

This lady is scratching the whites from the body of the pots before she sends them off to attach the necks. See above for link to the video about how these are added manually.

The furnace, pots are made and sun-dried and to some of these colors are added before burning to bring the brick-orange colour/tinge. Before, I thought that colour was natural.

where the fire would be made to burn the sun-dried pots. After making pots need to be sundried for a week or more before they are hard enough to be burnt in the furnace. See the fire-woods under the bricks? May be they'd use straws as well

Clay brought to shore in boats. These are the raw materials for the clay pots. See the piles of clays on the shore of Dhaleswari near Pal Para.

Muddy clay, the raw material transformed into  brick-orange coloured clay pots

A near empty furnace. It seems pots have been taken away to the sellers. There are losses anywhere. See the losses here, broken pots, around the furnace?

It's midday and children are at play......one of my most favourite moments I come across in riverine Bangladesh. Any water body reminds me of my Rangamati, my Chengi Valley-Khagrachhari.......a land of love, clouds and hills and............green peace. I miss you my Khagrachhari!
